Each competition saw 10 chefs from around the world vie for the championship title in the ultimate cook-off. The competitions were part of the Worldchefs Congress and Expo 2018 which took place last week in Kuala Lumpur. Anchor Food Professionals was the event’s exclusive dairy partner, supplying high quality, fit for purpose dairy ingredients, including Anchor butter, cream and whipping cream.

The participants of the Global Pastry Chefs Challenge prepared a range of intricate desserts – including a chocolate centrepiece, summer themed dessert and a gâteau cake – made with Anchor Food Professionals culinary cream and butter. Wei Hrn, who represented Singapore and works as a pastry chef at Resorts World Sentosa, beat nine patissiers to emerge as the winner.

Wei Hrn said, “I am grateful to the Singapore Chefs’ Association for the opportunity and the mentors for their time invested during the training period. It was hard work, but being part of an international culinary competition such as this is already a privilege. The champion title is definitely the cherry on top.”

The Global Young Chefs Challenge saw chefs aged 25 and below present a well-balanced three course menu. Niall, who represented Finland and is part of the Finnish Defence Forces, won the championship title.

The Worldchefs Congress and Expo is the premier showcase for culinary innovation and is held every second year in different locations around the world.
