Last week we were at Asia Pacific’s biggest bakery event - Bakery China in Shanghai.

With the theme of “Pure New Zealand, Premium Taste from Anchor”, we showcased our star products and innovative applications, leading the "pure" trend of integrating sustainability with high-quality dairy products and end-to-end solutions.

At the opening ceremony, Justin Dai, Vice President of Fonterra Greater China, shared, “as a globally renowned dairy company, Fonterra comes from New Zealand, and is known for its compelling ‘pure’ natural environment. China has become one of the most important strategic markets for Fonterra Group. We hope to actively share and exchange developments with industry partners through Bakery China, and continue to provide customised products and one-stop application solutions for the Chinese market to better meet the needs of Chinese customers and consumers.”

Here are just some of the highlights of our time at Bakery China this year.

#1. Immersive experience: Pure New Zealandness and High-performing dairy products

At the exhibition, we showcase sustainability and our New Zealand heritage – how our cared for cows who graze in lush pastures produce milk that sets our dairy products apart from the rest. Cutting edge technology was used to create an immersive virtual experience to transport our visitors to our farms in New Zealand.

And this New Zealand goodness was well-recognised with two of our products, Anchor Easy Mix Cream Cheese and Anchor Lactic Butter, winning the “the Innovative Product Award” at the event!


#2. Themed trend display: Innovation & solutions in leading

Based on our up-to-date insight on global and Chinese market trends, we were able to provide new and on-trend applications to inspire our customers for their next creation.

At the stand, our applications and solutions were presented in different themes, like our Cake series, new twists on Chinese pastry including cheese pastry and cheese mooncakes, the seasonal theme of Hi Fun Summer, trendy bread and cheese bistro inspirations, and the next bakery station introducing new ingredients, innovation for extended packed shelf life and pre-baked bakery solutions.

#3. Sustainability launch: “Join Anchor to Protect the Purity”

During this exhibition, Anchor Food Professionals and the China Environmental Protection Foundation (CEPF) held a kick-off ceremony of “Join Anchor to Protect the Purity” sustainability activity and make positive contributions to China's achievement of the "dual carbon" goal. This activity is planned to continue until the end of the year and is a great example of partnering for sustainable outcomes. 

#4. Amazing demonstrations: M.O.F and China star chef together on one stage 

M.O.F Jean-Francois Arnaud was our VIP guest chef – showcasing his incredible talent using our high-quality products. We also had star Chinese chefs preparing exciting new recipes every day with people queueing up to see the creations!

#5. Leading trends with customers 

During the event we released our latest trend insights report for the bakery industry. we work hard to get a deep understanding of the market demands and trends so we can drive local innovation with our customers and supporting the development of the Chinese Bakery Industry. We also held a customer collaboration ceremony establishing strategic cooperation programmes including “Dairy Upgrade”, “Revitalised Foodservice Innovation” and “Localised Innovation” with our customers.
